By anyone's account, Quvenzhané Wallis is having an incredible year. The 9-year-old star of the Oscar-nominated BEASTS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD, is now the youngest person ever to be nominated for and Academy Award for Best Actress, and is having a ball while hot on the awards campaign trail.
First of all, there's "that" name. You guys, it's not hard! Kwa. Ven. JA. Nay. Say it with us.
Mike Glazer of The Wrap even made a cute instructional video:
Nazie was also interviews by none other than Vogue editor at large, André Leon Talley, for his video series Mondays with André. During the sit-down, she busts a movie to Rihanna and closes the conversation with a little shimmy to Frank Ocean. When we were 9 we're pretty sure we were still hung up on the Muppets Take Manhattan soundtrack. Just for reference.
Quvenzhané will also be the one of the guests of honor (alongside Oprah Winfrey, Alfre Woodard and Gabrielle Union) at the Essence Black Women in Hollywood luncheon on Feb 21st. Things just keep getting better for the wiser-than-her-years actress. Whatever she does next, we're sure it will be amazing.
BEASTS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD will be returning to theaters on Friday! Make sure to check where it is opening near you to relive the experience on the big screen for the last time.
